Things to see and do in the Gambia
Accommodation description
Ngala Lodge was originally a colonial mansion and provides just ten spacious suites, each uniquely furnished using a mixture of local and imported art to create individual character. The emphasis here is on a personalised service, for example, guests can choose to enjoy breakfast on their private balcony or in the restaurant. The open air terrace restaurant benefits from outstanding views and enjoys a well established reputation with the public, for excellence in service and cuisine.
Ngala enjoys a magnificent setting looking out from its cliff top position across the swimming pool and gardens to the ocean beyond. The secluded beach is accessible via steep steps and it would be wise to take advice on local conditions before swimming. Each suite is unique and they vary in size, however all are extremely comfortable and spacious with many individual features and little touches designed to make guests feel very much at home. Bathrobes, toiletries and hairdryer are all provided for guest's convenience.
The Gambia is situated on the West African coast midway between the Tropic of Cancer and the Equator on the same latitude as Barbados. It has so much to offer all year round from its unsophisticated charm, deserted palm fringed beaches, tropical gardens and nature reserves. 6 hours flying time from London, it offers an exciting destination and hospitality to those looking for an alternative to Europe, but at comparable prices.
