THE LEGENDARY MUSICAL
FROM THE CREATORS OF LES MISÉRABLES

Since Miss Saigon's sensational record-breaking run at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane 25 years ago it has played in 300 cities in 15 different languages, winning awards around the world.

This epic musical love story tells the tragic tale of a young bar girl Kim, orphaned by war, who falls in love with an American GI called Chris – but their lives are torn apart by the fall of Saigon.

From its show-stopping ballads to its shocking storyline, Miss Saigon is a musical on an epic scale in every way. Hailed “the greatest musical of all time” by the Daily Mail, the show won a record-breaking nine awards at the WhatsOnStage awards in 2015. It took more than £4 million on its first day of ticket sales ahead of its reopening in London in 2014 – before its stars had even been cast.

Book your Miss Saigon tickets with lastminute.com and discover a dark tale of impossible love, war, oppression and betrayal. The show is based on Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly, but is set in 1970s Saigon during the Vietnam War. It tells the story of Kim, orphaned by the war and forced to work as a barmaid in a brothel, and Chris, the American soldier who falls in love with her. But the lovers are separated when the Americans evacuate Saigon – the musical is famous for the dramatic scene of troops being whisked out of the city in a helicopter – and tragedy ensues.

The show originally opened at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane in 1989, closing ten years later after 4,000 performances, having become the theatre’s longest-running production. Since then it has been performed in 300 cities in 15 different languages and won awards around the world – its Broadway run also broke several records and won multiple Tony Awards. It won best show, best musical revival, best direction, best actor, best actress, best supporting actor, best supporting actress, best choreography and best set design at the 2015 WhatsOnStage awards, and was also nominated for two Olivier awards.

The musical itself is the work of Alain Boublil and Claude Michel Schonberg, who also wrote Les Miserables and have both won multiple awards for their work. Producer Cameron Mackintosh, who staged the original West End production, is again at the helm, this time at the Prince Edward Theatre.

Described as “thrilling, soaring and spectacular” by The Times, “a timeless musical masterpiece” by Classic FM and “a must-see” by Magic FM, Miss Saigon may well deserve the Daily Mail’s praise. But don’t take their word for it – book your Miss Saigon London tickets with lastminute.com and experience what critic Jeremy Mark, in Heat magazine, called “the most powerful and moving musical you’ll ever see.”
