The tunnel has a unique past and was originally built in 1950 by the MOD to better understand aerodynamic forces, such as the phenomenon of an aircraft flat spin then later to test the resilience and success of items such as ejector seats. In the late 90's the tunnel was demilitarised but with a great deal of hard work and investment the tunnel was bought back to life, as the UK's first and World's largest skydiving tunnel. Essential info

• One separate flight each of around 1 minute 15 seconds - this will enable you to fly around the chamber and practice your skills being guided by your professional instructor
• Two further flights of around 1 minute 15 seconds - during these you will get the unique chance to fly in the tunnel together with your friend, and your instructors of course.

Experience details

• This is a single gift experience voucher for two people
• Location: Bedfordshire
• This activity takes place all year round and is available on certain days from Wednesday to Sunday at selected times between 09.00 and 23.00. Kindly note weekend availability is limited due to popularity
• Please allow approximately two hours on site for the whole experience
• You will receive a full colour information pack and a voucher valid for nine months. You must book and take your experience before the voucher expiry date. Kindly note that vouchers may not be extended beyond their expiration date
• To arrange a date for your experience simply phone the number provided in the pack
• It is recommended that you book a date at least eight weeks in advance for weekdays and three to four months for weekends to ensure that dates are available before the expiry date listed on the voucher. This is only a guideline and it is advised that you book as early as possible to avoid disappointment as vouchers may not be extended. All bookings are subject to availability. Kindly note weekend availability cannot be guaranteed

Essential information

• Flight suits, helmets, goggles, earplugs, knee pads and elbow pads are provided
• You will need to wear casual and comfortable clothing. No collars. You will need to wear trainers; no other form of footwear is permitted
• Refreshments are available for purchase on site
• Spectators are welcome and there is a free viewing gallery for them, although very small children may be better kept in the lounge area, as the viewing gallery is noisy
• Disabled access is available to the building, lift and disabled toilets. Access to the viewing gallery is width restricted but the action can still be viewed via video link in the lounge area. Certain types of disability may still allow customers to take part in flying - please call the supplier for individual advise
• The experience is not weather dependant
• In the unlikely event of a DVD being unavailable due to circumstances beyond the control of the supplier, no refund or alternative will be offered
• Public Liability Insurance is included, along with third party insurance for vehicles or equipment used on the day. In addition, Personal Accident Insurance of up to £50,000 and Cancellation Insurance of up to £500 are included for the voucher holder. Details will be enclosed within your gift pack

Restrictions

• Minimum age is four years. Parent's discretion is advised, as a child needs to be able to understand and follow instruction. Under 18's will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to read and sign an acceptance of risk form on their behalf
• Maximum weight is 20 stone
• Kindly note that participants will be able to fly together in the chamber subject to weight compliance and similar ability. If the weight and ability of each participant are too dissimilar you will fly separately in the two final sessions (one session each). This will be determined on the day of the experience
• You need to be reasonably fit to participate in this experience. You will not be permitted to participate if you are pregnant, have ever suffered a dislocated shoulder, serious back or disk problems, have any freshly stitched wounds, Osteoporosis, any bone illnesses, heart problems, are wearing a hard cast or are under the influence of alcohol or non-prescribed drugs
