                            With varying happy hours every night, you can grab some great bargains at this stylish cocktail bar. Great for groups, as the menu boasts sharing punches, sample name “Tequil-A Mockingbird; this is a real, independent gem of a bar.

                          • Covent Garden Cocktail Club

                              Although this is a members club, you only need to give them 24-hours-notice to join in the fun with three friends for just £1 between you. Great cocktails await you, once you have found the "blink and you will miss it" entrance. This is one for those who love to plan, a little, ahead.

                            • BYOC

                                Seems a bit cheeky - but you bring your own cocktails (hence the name). A genuine speakeasy, you supply the alcohol, they mix you something special. Reservations only and at £20 per person (+ bringing a bottle) this is treatsville and will earn you bragging rights with mates!

                              • La Perla

                                  With 100 different types of authentic Tequila you better believe they make some of the best Margaritas in London. This joint is always jumping and the sharing plates offer a tastier accompaniment to your Tequila than just salt and lemon!

                                • Jewel

                                    This bar’s décor lives up to its name, sparkling and stylish; it really is a precious gem of a place. Perfect for a date or for getting glammed up for girly drinks, just sit back and sip champagne cocktails or get stuck into the mojito list. They also have cracking happy hours and are open later than the average bar!

                                • Wine, beer and cheer; it’s “Thirsty Thursday”

                                  We love a long-weekend in London, which is why for many Thursday has long-been the new Friday. The area boasts specialist beer pubs, family-run watering holes and some of the oldest boozers in London. After-work drinks? Impress your boss with some nifty new places to go. Catching up with friends? Find a pub, wine bar or cocktail place to sit down and share the gossip, be it the latest romantic entanglement, a horror show at work or debating why your football team just can’t buy a win.

                                          This is a proper pub tucked away in the corner of Covent Garden. They don’t do food and has stuck to its guns by selling real ales and cider from its favourite breweries. It concentrates on doing what a British boozer should do. Fancy purely a pint? – then head here.

                                            This restaurant certainly can “steak” a claim to having one of the most comprehensive cocktail lists. With classy drinks served alongside the best of British beef, you are in for a heady, mouth-watering mix of an evening.

                                          • Lamb & Flag

                                              Hidden away along a cobbled alley, this little piece of English history is worth popping into. Generally standing room only in the cosy and narrow bar or outside, this is ideal for a post-work pint.

                                                    This is a monster of a pub, with 12 different bar sections selling a massive range of beers, stouts and ales. A big and busy boozer which is ideal for meeting up with a group of mates, they also do live music and drinks festivals.

                                                      This New York offshoot boasts waffles, eggs, pancakes and life-saving Bloody Marys. A perfect way to start a Sunday. Has a mouth-watering bakery next-door if you just want to grab a treat and go.

                                                    • Maple Leaf

                                                        The perfect pub for catching up with sport on big screens. This Canadian bar has a fun, relaxed vibe and sharing platters so you can install yourself for the afternoon and evening. Check out the “poutine” - chips, cheese and gravy; yum.

                                                    • Don’t stop me now

                                                      It always seems like you are just getting in the swing of the evening when the bell to signal last orders sounds like the clanging chimes of doom. No one wants to trek round from bar to bar desperately trying to find somewhere still open. Well now you don’t have to! Here is how to avoid the evening ending just as it is starting to get good with our pick of the late-night hot-spots and keep the fun times flowing.

                                                      • Circus

                                                          Cocktails and cabaret are certainly an interesting mix at this vibrant venue. Open until 2am at the weekend, if you book for a delectable dinner you should be able to catch a couple of variety acts during your meal. Beats a bit of small talk.

                                                        • Dirty Martini

                                                            Perfect for after-work cocktails on a Thursday and Friday, especially if you are up for a big-night as this baby stays open till 3am. Worth grabbing the happy hour deals throughout the week and weekend, and drinks wise – it’s got to be a Martini surely!

                                                          • Cellar Door

                                                              Despite being located in a former gent’s loo, you will happily spend more than a penny in this quirky underground venue. Small, but perfectly formed, its free-entry and open till 1am. A “dive” bar has never looked so good.

                                                            • Roadhouse

                                                                So you might not get hipster points for visiting, but who cares with great value happy hours every night, cracking music and opening hours till an eye-watering 3am Mon to Sat. This is a safe bet when someone says: “one (it’s never one) for the road”. Free entry before 10pm Mon to Thurs.

                                                              • Freud

                                                                  This subterranean superstar, with a deceptively high-ceiling interior, serves up a great range of decently priced cocktails. This place doesn’t try to hard which gives it a real down-to-earth vibe. Expect a chilled-out crowd and friendly staff.

                                                              • Quirky cafes

                                                                Grabbing a caffeine fix is a must-do if you plan on spending the day sampling all Covent Garden has to offer. Whether you need a coffee boost to start your day, or a restorative cuppa to sit and reflect on a day sightseeing or shopping; these five places all offer something a little different from the norm. From fabulous fast food to superb sandwiches, eat, drink and be merry (some of them also do alcohol!)

                                                                    And now for something completely different… fancy starting the day with a bacon naan roll? Keeping the Bombay café tradition alive, Dishoom boasts a quirky breakfast menu with a house chai to die for. Incredibly popular, even when there are queues there is a guaranteed warm welcome awaiting you. The curry is pretty fine too!

                                                                      During the day, this is one of the best places to grab a seriously good coffee and a light bite, at night you can also get stuck into the fantastic cheese, charcuterie and wine.

                                                                    • MEATmarket

                                                                        It’s all about the F word here; fun, flavoursome fast-food. Eat in or takeaway, kids will love it, teenagers won’t turn up their noses and adults will enjoy the slightly naughty feel of the place. Burgers to die for and the cheesy chilli chips are simply divine.

                                                                      • Kopapa

                                                                          This funky, laidback Kiwi café does great food, wonderful coffee and a fantastic brunch. Great for groups, it has lovely sharing plates, and popular with the theatre crowd. In the evening it moves from café to buzzing bar and restaurant. Booking is advised.

                                                                        • il Tempo

                                                                            London’s first authentic “aperitivo” bar. If Italians had a happy hour concept, this would be it, but classier! Rather than get two-for-one drinks, buy an evening glass of quality wine and then help yourself to free high-quality nibbles while you sup (essentially a pre-dinner aperitif). This cosy café, which also does amazing coffee, may be small, but it’s perfectly formed. Don’t be shy with the food, get stuck in!

                                                                        • Urge to splurge

                                                                          Hand over the credit card, pocket the receipt without looking and just live the high-life for a day in these stunning hotels, bars and restaurants. If you are visiting for a special occasion or treating a loved one, you may as well push the boat out and go for broke. Stylish, swish or just downright swanky; these places will make you feel like royalty, even if it is just for one day. Go on, treat yourself.

                                                                              The best way to describe The Lobby Bar; well swanky! Serving up champagne and cocktails this seriously cool bar space will also have you admiring the setting as much as the drinks menu (served by award-wining bartenders!). The afternoon tea is also something pretty special.

                                                                            • Covent Garden Hotel

                                                                                Decadent drinks in a dreamy setting, this bar certainly delivers on style. Really good wine and champagne bar, their perfectly mixed cocktails and martinis are the perfect way to unwind in a classy setting. The bar snacks are not shabby either.

                                                                                  More English than a bowler hat and cricket, this is THE oldest English restaurant. Posh? Well the menu does follow that of the game season; so if flavoursome fowl is your ideal, this is the place to go for everything from classic pies to traditional puddings.

                                                                                    This new hotel is one of the hottest tickets in town. Splash out on a night there or just see Covent Garden from a whole new level from the fabulous roof-top bar. Just sit back and sip the cocktails

                                                                                      Channelling the opulent jazz age, just pull up a stool at the hotel bar, Good Godfrey’s, order an old-fashioned and let the good times follow.                                                                                     Finding the right pre and post theatre restaurant can be tricky as you can be a little pushed for time.                                                                                         Bit of an institution, this subterranean restaurant will leave you with a warm, fuzzy feeling. A super slice of authentic American dining with a massive cocktail range; you might just feel like you are dining on Broadway rather than the West End.

                                                                                          Cosy and intimate, this non-kosher Jewish deli with fabulous gin-based cocktails offers something a little different. Oozy mac and cheese, crispy latkes and Reuben on rye; guaranteed great food served with a smile. Best book as gets busy, but don’t worry; you won’t notice too much, the vibe is very laidback.

                                                                                            Literally a hidden gem; you will find exquisite French food tucked away dare you venture down a little backstreet. Great for wine and cheese and the great theatre deals means your tastebuds will be blown rather than your wallet.

                                                                                          • Green Man & French Horn

                                                                                              With a menu updated daily and specializing in seasonal French food, this brick-walled brassiere has a warm and unpretentious feel. The wine is sourced from all along the Loire valley – and you will be grape-ful for their efforts, talk about spoiled for choice.

                                                                                            • Cafe Pacifico

                                                                                                Still riding on the crest of a Mexican wave, Covent Garden’s original cantina boasts fantastic, authentic food and friendly service. Boasting a buzzy vibe and cool bar, this restaurant, which is also child friendly, is all about the fun. For adults it’s clearly a good excuse to get in a classy cocktail sharpener pre-show.
