"You get what you pay for."
I stayed here for 3 nights alone and the room was clean but very small. With a tiny window and low lighting it felt quite claustrophobic. I think with 2 people it would have been too small.
There was no bench space or shelves anywhere to put anything like toiletries etc.
There was constant work noise coming from outside, and the window overlookd a tiny concrete area surrounded by 4 buildings.
Reception were friendly enough, but the area lacked any character.
Free wifi was fast and reliable.
The location was fantastic - plenty of supermarkets, restaurant and coffee and the Tube within 2 mins walk and right next to Hyde Park, Notting Hill walking distance to Oxford St and much more.
Very basic, but clean enough and affordable too.
"Very dissapointing"
There is no way that this hotel should have a five star rating. The general appearance of the hotel is tatty and there is a total lack of care and attention. The door man and lady at reception couldn't care less if we were there or not and hardly acknowledged us. The room was clean but very small and not at all what you would expect from a five star hotel at all.

"Trying for 4 stars, but..."
I booked this hotel because the hotels we normally use were full. Never again. And let me first say that I'm not usually one to complain, so you don't think "what a nagging old #&%#ยค" :) Here are just a few of the reasons: we had booked a so-called club room that was supposed to be "better", but the first night my adult daughter and I had to share a small double bed in a tiny room - and when I say tiny I mean tiny! We couldn't open both suitcases at the same time. No info in advance - so I suspect they had double booked the room - I'm not buying their excuse. The next day we got our room - in the afternoon. It was 109 - which I have seen others comment on - it was dark and gloomy, a tiny spot is no make-up light! and the bedside lamp was broken - we could hardly read our books. The air-condition-thingy was impossible to regulate (warm - or cold) and very noisy. Add to the fact that machines sounding like asphalt drills from both the roof and outside our window (facing concrete - where was the sky, I wonder?) kept us awake all night, facing the dirty coffee cups the third morning (which they didn't change until the next day!) and the lack of cookies (a tiny detail, but a feel-good thing every ordinary hotel provides) made us no happier. The shower had a leak which made the floor quite wet. We had pre-paid the room, but I had to leave my credit card number (yes, I know - quite usual, but...) in case we, among other things, smoked in the room! But I'm asthmatic and had to put the fresh flowers out in the corridor. My daughter's pillowcase were flecked with fresh blood (I'm not kidding!) We tried to ask if the wine, the water and the old banana on the counter were complimentary to the room (was it the club room-extra, I wonder?) but never got a clear answer, so we gave up and drank the wine. There was no place to put toiletries in the bathroom - too much design and too little comfort? The most positive were the LADIES at the reception desk, they were kind and helpful. The location is fine, near the tube and the buses.
"Excellent experience!"
I stayed here with my parents in April, 2012. Our room was luxurious and very clean. The beds were very comfortable. Our room had a loft connected via a stairway. There was an LCD TV. The service was good. We had to call housekeeping only a couple of times for minor things and their response was quick and efficient. The bathroom was clean and well equipped. The heating worked well. We had a microwave in our room. They sent us biscuits, chocolates, coffee, sugar etc every day which was nice. Their inhouse spread of food was very limited but in any case we had not opted for a breakfast package. Fortunately, the hotel is very close to Craven road which has several restaurants. The people running the place were friendly and forthcoming with information. This hotel is a five minute walk from Paddington station, which also makes it a convenient place to stay. From Craven road there are several buses that go to Notting Hill, Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street etc.
On a few occasions we had trouble accessing the room with our smart key. It had to be reset. This involved waiting for a few minutes. This became a little boring. That was perhaps the only inconvenience we had during our stay. We had a lovely time and would stay again if visiting London.
