Difficult to review the quality as we were informed on arriving at 6pm that "there had been an error with the booking". The 'apology' was rather superficial. We were transferred to the Hotel Imperiale in Via Veneto (which turned out to be a better location) and informed this was a better hotel. The booking had been made for weeks (through lastminute.com so not sure who was to blame). From the reviews it appears this isn't the first time this has happened. Close

Stayed for two nights in October. This hotel fitted what we were after for when looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a good location. This hotel has comfortable, nay grand, rooms, and a good continental breakfast. The staff are very helpful and spoke English. They also accepted my attempts at Italian pleasantly. The rooms are not huge but were more than generous for the two of us. The view from our window was great, looking out over the city. The Triton fountain, Trevi fountain and Spanish Steps are easy walking distance. Vatican is walkable, but takes about an hour at a leisurely pace, stopping to take photos. Barbebrini and the Termi station (10 mins) are easy walking too. Rome is a fab place to visit. We had a great romantic weekend for my birthday. I would recommend this hotel. Only down side - paying extra for internet when staying in a 4 star hotel. Close

At some point in my booking process on the Hotel's website I was informed that I would have a junior suite in the Residenza Romanico (sister and adjoining hotel) for 169 Euro per night. I booked for 7 nights as we were meeting with friends from Australia. Unfortunately I couldn't get a flight on Friday 30/10/09, so I booked a flight back for Thursday 29th. I went back onto the hotel website to change my reservation, but found I was unable to do so without cancelling my original booking and making a new one. I sent a feedback message through the website to change from a 7 to a 6 night booking. On arrival I was asked how many nights we wished to stay for and I replied 6. Reception did not comment on this. We were initially show to a room on the 1st floor, which was clearly not a junior suite. It was very small. I protested and was shown to a room on the 2nd floor, which - while bigger - again was clearly not a junior suite. I again protested and was shown to a room on the 6th floor which, while far superior to the other rooms was not what I would have expected of a junior suite. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and when we enquired about this we were told that we must use room service if we required any drinks, or use the bar. There was no free internet access. At checkout I was told that I must pay for 7 nights as that was my original booking. I did not argue as I had a taxi booked to take me to the airport and I was afraid of being late for my flight, but I was extremely displeased. We have stayed at hotels all over the world, of various grades, and this was the first time we have ever not had a kettle and tea and coffee provided. The decor of the hotel is very grand but the furniture is quite impractical. There are too few drawers provided and only 1 chair even in our larger room, though there was a chaise longue type piece of furniture. I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Although the junior staff were fine, the reception staff were extremely aloof. We did discover a lovely friendly restaurant on the same block calle LeLuLo, which even has a smoking room and reasonable prices. Rome is very expensive - particularly as the exchange rate £ to Euro is terrible. Close

We got this 4 star hotel for £10 each per night room only. The room was very small but fantastically decorated, 10ft head board about a million count egyptian cotton sheets and hydrotherapy power shower, massage thig amazing for the price we got it. The staff are fantastic in there, funny, helpful everything you would want. We looked on the room door and the price for our room per night was 500 euros.... we really did get a bargain. We felt safe in the area, close to the spanish steps and trevi fountain, just amazing place loved every minute of it. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel, get a 4 euro ticket for the day and you can use buses and metro. We just got on the bus and went to wherever it took us, we went everywhere it was fantstic. Close

Stayed here for three nights recently and was left extremely disappointed. We arrived late at night and were escorted to our 'delux' room which was only slightly bigger than a broom cupboard - it was dingy, and claustrophobic with a small bathroom complete with broken toilet seat and faulty light. I complained to the hotel manager and was eventually shown into another room (having waited about 20 minutes for the 1 consierge that covers the two interlinking hotels to arrive) which was also tiny and not worth the £166 per night we were being charged. We were finally shown into a junior suite, which was really just a regular sized double room, and which we could only have for one night so were moved to another room the following evening. In fairness to the staff they didn't charge us for this so called 'upgrade'. Getting a decent night's sleep was virtually impossible due to an extremely noisy air conditioning system in the room, and the fact that the room was located next to the maid's linen cupboard. I don't normally write reviews but the experience at the Hotel Veneto was so below par that i feel compelled to write to warn off other travellers. This really isn't a four star hotel and it isn't even a three star hotel - avoid at all costs. Close
