The Sant Bernat is simply a bargain. Excellent food, spectacular location, friendly staff and an extremely nice atmosphere, perfectioned by a huge friendly St. Bernhard dog named Sam and to little puppies, made our stay absolutely great. The hotel is rated 3 star, but we reconned that it definetely compares favourably with many 4 star hotels. Our warmest recommendations! Close

We absolutely loved this hotel. The setting was just so beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. We were only sorry we didn't stay longer. The hotel is surrounded by mountains and is far away from anywhere, with nothing to hear but the birds singing. Our room had french doors leading out onto a balcony with stunning views of the mountains. The breakfast served was excellent. There was an array of food to choose from. We ate in the restaurant one night, which was a three course meal for 22 euros per person. The standard of the food was very high and very tasty.The staff were very helpful and the three dogs liked to received the occasional cuddle! Close

This hotel was such a pleasant surprise. Located in a remote area, it offers excellent gourmet food presented well, a very friendly, helpful staff--some of whom speak English--and a very beautiful setting. Part of its ambiance are three St. Bernard dogs that lounge about the lobby and the grounds and even accompanied us on a five-hour hike in the area. Close

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful, peaceful, family-friendly hotel in the heart of the Montseny National Park in Catalonia, and we highly recommend it. The building and grounds are charming, it is a comfortable and welcoming place, and we found plenty of things to do for our several day stay. Mostly it was very relaxing. The room rates were reasonable and our room had a small separate adjoining room for our daughter, five years old, She enjoyed playing with the three lovable Saint Bernards (who also joined us on one of our hikes which started right behind the hotel), the stack of kid games in one of the several lobbies, feeding the gold fish, and playing on the small play structure. We found the hotel staff to be very accommodating and helpful. They advised us on trails for hiking (note: finding reliable maps within the park is not something you can count on); arranging a horse-riding lesson for our daughter (with the next door farmer, who was delightful), packing us an extensive picnic, and even....delivering our daughter's favorite stuffed animal to us at our next hotel in Barcelona when we discovered that we had inadvertently left it behind....We thought the food at the hotel was always good, and sometimes spectacular. Try the goat cheese salad -- a marvelously fresh goat cheese provided by the farmer next door, or the suckling pig... very yummy! The kid's meal was huge -- enough for three five year olds...but pricey as a result. Breakfast, which was included, was copious and very good. The daily menu (20E) is a good deal. One day, we drove to "Les Illes" and then hiked on a dirt road (4WD type of road) to an old monastery that is also a hotel run by the same "Husa" hotel chain. The renovated monastery is interesting to look at. If we were to do it over again, we would have left a bit earlier, and made a reservation for lunch at the monastery hotel, which looked very good. All in all, we highly recommend the Hotel Sant Bernat for a relaxing, serene and secluded vacation. Close

We had spent several days in an expensive hotel in bustling Barcelona so I decided to contrast our last night in Catalonia by going out to the country for half the price. As we drove up to the property, my first thought was that the pictures on the website did NOT do this hotel justice. The buildings, the grounds and the location in the heart of the lushly forested mountains of Montseny National Park were magical. Then as we pulled up to the front, we were greeted by an adorable Saint Bernard puppy and I knew we were going to enjoy our stay immensely. Our room was not large but it was comfortable, clean, and attractive. The best part was the double french doors that opened up to a large deck with a postcard-perfect view. There was a table and chairs, singing birds, and a gorgeous sunset. There is not too much to do on site - a couple of hiking paths (we didn't go that far up the mountain) in fairytale settings, a pool, and horsebacking riding. If you have a car, however, there is the entire park to explore including other lodgings with restaurants. The lunch and dinner we had were excellent, though the continental breakfast was tired probably due to the fact that we were only one of two couples there (it was mid-week). They seem to make their money on weddings (we are recommending the hotel to an engaged couple we know for just this purpose - there is a small chapel and seperate banquet hall) so make sure you will not be there during a wedding. Regarding the dogs, there were two rambunctious puppies and a huge but very sweet full-grown St. Bernard when we were there. There's plenty of room to ignore them or play with them. The staff was excellent and very friendly. It's a casual atmosphere, very relaxed. Close
