The Duc de la Victoria is a comfortable and pleasant hotel. Decent rooms and amenities, good service, excellent value for money (though we went August which is a bit cheaper in Barcelona as its so hot and some locals leave). The breakfast was very good, lots of selection both hot and cold, yummy pastries! We couldn't use the bar as it was closed, but there were a couple of places close by (locals bar just down the road was cheap and friendly). The best thing has to be the location. You are so close to Ramblas and the Cathedral that nothing is far away. We walked virtually everywhere, but did use bus / metro for longer journeys across the city and found it easy to use. We found plenty of well priced restaurants, and the hotel gives a guide in the rooms that lists loads of options, type of cuisine and price. We really had great meals at: Biblioteca (modern, delicious, dont be put off by area) Lonja de Tapas La Crema Canela - linked with the restaurant below - stunning food, not too expensive (so be warned both were very very busy!) La Lluna Rita Rouge Taberna del Born (fab tapas) Close

In a nutshell: The hotel is perfectly located in a small steet in the gothic quarter, 50m from La Rambla and a 100m from placa Catalunya, very close to the old Cathedral and shopping areas. The rooms were fine. not very big, but clean. Be sure to book rooms that are wathcing the street and not the inner court, which is not very nice. The staff was very freindly and helpful, and breakfasts are superb, much more than tou could usually expect in a 3 star hotel. All in all - highly recomended. Close

Very good hotel, friendly staff pointed me to extraordinary restaurants. Only bad thing is that I left the hotel in a rush and didn't notice they'd charged an inexistent mini-bar consumption.

I don't know how this place can call itself a business hotel just because it had an internet connection. There's no trouser press in the room and there is no iron available. Well actually there is but there's no ironing board you have to, and I quote 'lay a towel on the floor'. Other sentences in this conversation included, 'You have to come down and collect it yourself' and 'Well you either want it or you don't.' Nice service. There're no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and they don't do room service for this sort of thing but helpfully you can order a selection of Pizzas from their restaurant. So picture the scene, you arrive for a business meeting, you have a couple of hours before it starts and you want to give your shirt a quick press and grab a quick cup of coffee. No worries you're staying in a 'business hotel' after all... I wasn't actually here on business, I was here for pleasure but nevertheless I still wanted to go out relatively uncreased and I still wanted a coffee or tea in the morning (and not between the hours of 5am and 7am when it was free in reception) I actually felt embarrassed for the staff who either didn't care or were far too dim to realise the basic needs any traveller - business or otherwise. It is a great location but it's not cheap and to be honest you could pay less, get more and still only be 10 minutes away from the Ramblers. I think this is a classic case of a small inexperienced chain trying to rub shoulders with the big boys and only grazing the crotch. Laughable. Close

Quiet street off La Ramblas near Bari Gothic, just round corner from Cathedral so central for everything - including aerobus & bus tours. Not a better location in our view! Room was modern and clean with balcony. Breakfast was great - buffet style with lots of choice. Plus could order additional items such as poached eggs. Staff friendly, efficient and helpful. Perfect stay - would definitely recommend! Recommend going to match at Neu Camp if you can ! Close
