I have just arrived home from a four night stay in New York with my friends. To say we had a fantastic time would be an understatement. Having read some of the reviews on this site, I was more that a little nervous about what to expect from our hotel but it proved to be quite the opposite. From the moment of our arrival everything went according to plan. The staff were very friendly (with perhaps one exception- the night concierge on our second night, was having a conversation on the phone and ignored me for 10 minutes until I gave up and went to bed!!! However everyone else on this desk was more than helpful for the duration of our stay and compensated for his rudeness. The concierge even organised our trip to Woodbury Common!!! He suggested that we use a private transfer with another small group the cost of which was $3 more than the bus from the Port Authority. This proved to be the Best Idea of the trip. The driver brought us to the door of Woodbury at 10am and collected us at the pre arranged time (6pm) and delivered us and all our shopping directly to the door of the hotel!!! The best idea ever!!!! While our double double room was not very big it was larger than I expected and was very clean. The Bathroom was very small, but adequate. It was very central, 4 blocks below Central Park(we took a Carriage Ride at night and were delivered back to the door!!) and 8/10 above Times Square. Our room had a great view of Times Sq but was far enough away to escape the noise and neon lights. I cant speak for the bar and restaurant as we did not get the opportunity to try them!! But also attached to the hotel you will find the Park Cafe. The food here was good. (even at midnight after the carriage ride!!!) I have no complaints about The Wellington, maybe we were lucky. (I might not have been as happy if we had rooms at back of hotel) But for location and value, I don't think you could beat this hotel. Without a doubt I'll be back. Close

Towel rack was in the shower, since the bathroom was no more than 4x5, thus towels were wet after taking a shower. You had to dry yourself off in the so called bedroom. Rooms were not very clean and outdated. Walls were very thin, so you could hear what was going on in the next rooms. They claimed that they were booked and couldn't move me to a more suitable room. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone. Even the cab driver knew that the hotel was horrible. Close

We had a fantastic stay at the Wellington. Yes, its true, it could do with updating but it was fantastic value for money for a hotel in a prime location. I've stayed at more expensive hotels in NY, but this, by far, is worth a go. The staff are really friendly and attentative, it was clean and lively - I'd definitely return. Close

We recentley visited New York and stayed at the Wellington for 6 days during November. The Wellington has the best location we could have asked for and the staff were helpful. Our room was OK, it was a little bit dirty but was well kept and we had a large TV in our room which boosted our ratings. In the top drawer there was a city guide (i would reccomend reading this) that was very helpful. We also had a large closet and chest of drawers. The room had a great view of the edge of times square but the noise was not to bad. In the hotel there is a comfortable lobby (but is usually filled with tour groups), a barbers, a shop (where you can book tickets, souveniers and food- very good shop and the entrance for the diner at the front). On our stay we got our breakfasts included ( I would reccomend doing this) which gave us a choice of FULL AMERICAN BREAKFAST (v. nice), FRENCH TOAST (OK, tasty) and PANCAKES (very plentiful and a bit sickly). I did not like the drinks on the menu so I had apple juice but the drinks were basic and you could get a refill. The location of the Wellington was brilliant. We were very near Carnegie Hall, Central Park and Times Square. It was very accessible to find places. I would reccomend this hotel due to value for money. We very much enjoyed our stay at the Wellington but if you are looking for luxury, do not go for it. But for the location and value for money I would deffinetley stay in it again. PS. Towels are provided but bring your own soap and toiletries as the ones they provide are rubbish (maybe bring toilet paper as well). Close

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at The Wellington Hotel New York. This hotel is centrally situated and is in a perfect location for sightseeing. It is very close by Carnegie Hall and a few minutes walk to Times Square. The hotel decor is a little dated and the rooms could definitely do with a refurb, however, the rooms we had with 2 queen size beds in were lovely and roomy with everything you need. The bathroom was again very dated but given as you're probably out most of the day sightseeing etc it is perfectly acceptable. The staff were attentive and polite, the hotel bar was VERY expensive but there are plenty of other places to go not far from the hotel. The Red Sightseeing Bus stops almost outside the door and this is a very worthwhile way of seeing the city. I t cost $55 for a 48 hour ticket that takes you all around the city day and night with hop on hop off flexibility. We felt this was worth the money and saved alot of leg work!! New York is a fantastic city and this hotel offers everything you need without a huge amount of luxury!!!! Close
