"Convenient & Helpful"

4.0/5

Sun 19 May 2013 New York City, New York

I stayed a couple of nights while in London on a business trip. While the name says "Regents Park" it is actually in Swiss Cottage which is not a bad thing. The hotel is a fairly standard Marriott - good beds and bedding and a reasonably spacious room. The hotel is currently undergoing a "balcony refresh" - in other words there is a fair bit of construction debris on the balconies and you probably wouldn't want to try using them. Apart from that everything seemed in good repair and working order. The Swiss Cottage tube station and high street restaurants are is only about 5 minutes walk away which is very convenient. The station is on the Jubilee line with just a short trip to the centre of London. I arrived very early and well before check in time but the lovely reception staff suggested that I shower and change in the fitness centre in order to make my morning meeting. A cheerful face at reception is a bonus that early in the morning. Overall, my stay was a pleasant experience and I will use the hotel again in the future.

"Lovely Hotel"

Stayed the night before leaving early for a trip on Eurostar. Staff lovely, nothing too much trouble. Chats bar served delicious food, all gluten free and freshly cooked. The chef came to see that I was happy with the meal, and too see if I was staying for breakfast, if so he would arrange gluten free bread for me....Excellent service.

Stayed at this hotel for one night, before leaving for Heathrow. (small taxi fare to paddington station for the heathrow express...FYI). Nice hotel, located a block from the tube. Staff were very kind. Had a nice dinner in the "chat's" bar. Hotel was undergoing outside reno's but nothing you would really notice.

"Convenient, quiet, reasonable for London"

Tue 07 May 2013 Santa Fe, New Mexico

This hotel has a tremendously helpful staff, and it is in a wonderful part of town. It seems reasonably laid back in attitude, and the attractions of the St. John's Wood neighborhood, Primrose Hill, and Regents Park are within easy walking distance, and it makes an ideal base for visiting the American School in London and exploring the surrounding area. Although other reviewers rave about the beds, our beds were only so-so, with the mattresses distinctly uneven, although not terribly uncomfortable--just average hotel sleeping fare. The hotel seems a bit dated, and it seems to aim primarily for a corporate/business traveller market--which is okay, but it may make the more artsy types feel a little out of place. The rooms are comfortable, but they do charge extra for wifi access--which seems like a bit of a dig since the price of the rooms (in spite of the upscale London neighborhood) already seems high enough to include the wifi for free. The bathroom was nicely appointed, although small, but our drain drained very slowly, leaving the last to shower (there were three of us) standing ankle deep in undrained water. So, would I recommend it? Yes, especially if you are doing business in the area. But if you are seeking something with more of a "special" feel, this probably won't be it.

"A big hotel that felt homely"

Tue 07 May 2013 Luxembourg

From the minute we arrived everyone at the hotel made us feel very welcome. Plenty of staff on hand to help with luggage, parking tips, concierge really friendly and helpful with maps and local directions to attractions. A big hotel that managed to feel homely. Kids enjoyed the swimming pool, which was quiet and very clean. The breakfast selection was brilliant with balloon modeller 'princess' greeting us on arrival.
