"Perfect hotel to visit Hong Kong"

5.0/5

Mon 20 May 2013 Luxembourg City, Luxembourg

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and it was a perfect choice. The hotel crew is lovely and the location is perfect. You're in the center of an animated quarter but the street itself is quiet. We could easily discover Hong Kong island. The real advantage is the near location of the ferry piers where you can take different boats that drive you to kowloon (10minutes), lantau (20 minutes and definately worth it) and even macau.

"Nice but not perfect"

I found this hotel through Expedia because it was in the general area I wanted to stay in and had a reasonable price. It's just a short walk from the Sheung Wan subway station (exit E). The desk staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms are small but clean and attractively decorated, with all the usual amenities and some nice views out the window. On the negative side: the shower head was too low; I am 5'10" (about 1.8 meters) and I could just barely fit underneath it. Likewise, my feet were hanging off the edge of the bed, though I did have a good night's sleep. Also, the hotel has a very unforgiving change/cancellation policy that requires 72 hours' advance notice or you'll be charged for at least one night. So when my plans changed, I ended up stuck with my original reservation. Finally, Internet access in the rooms isn't free (but there is free Wi-Fi in the reception area).

"Pretty good, small hotel"

Sat 18 May 2013 Sydney, Australia

One thing you'll note about Hong Kong Island is that every possible inch of space is used. That's why the LKF Hotel is tall but small, with only 7 rooms per floor. It's also why rooms in general are quite small, yet there was enough space for a desk, a bag and a decent-sized cupboard. My room had a shower (also saves space!) but another person in my group had a bath, so the rooms do vary a bit. I had a Mountain View, and it was quite fascinating to sit and absorb the sight of high-rises in the area. There's an open-walled lounge on the 4th floor for relaxing and I had access to free wifi. The service is very good -- there was a small plate of fruit in my room upon arrival and the staff would even press the button for you in the elevator! I had the buffet breakfast, which has the standard fare of eggs, bacon, sausages, sweet breads, fruit, yoghurt, and cereals. The hotel is an acceptable walk from Central MTR. You'll eventually figure out the overhead walkways so you hardly have to cross any roads. Hint: when leaving the hotel, right on Wellington Street and keep going until you hit the overhead mid-levels escalators. Beware of the fact that there are two LKF Hotels, so the taxi driver might try to take you to the wrong one. This one is a few metres uphill from the corner of Wellington & Aberdeen Streets. Take a printout of the map from the hotel's website to show the taxi driver. You can also walk from Sheung Wan MTR, but you practically need a GPS to navigate the tiny streets.

"Great experience"

The hotel is well located. It is very close to central. My room is small but clean and quiet. Service is good. Highly recommend the restaurant call "名人坊" on the 2nd floor. It will be better if there has free wifi in rooms.

"Average to poor overall"

Sat 11 May 2013 Porto, Portugal

I ended up in this hotel by mistake when I decided to move from another hotel and booked this instead of LKF. It was a bit of a shock when I arrived to me micro reception all with no lounge area. The staff was very helpful but when I finally arrived in room I just wanted to go back. The room was somehow clean and bed was ok but the asian decor made me think of all the chinese stores around europe. The housekeeping staff uniforms were cream silk pj's which looked really strange. The location is good if you are there for a good night out and there's a lot of good restaurants around and guess it is a good place for a young traveller with low expectations. I found prices comparable to any other great hotel in HK so for me not at all value for money. Not an experience to repeat.
