"Great Boutique Hotel & Staff"

5.0/5

Sat 15 Jun 2013 Toronto, Canada

From the moment we got out of the taxi the experience was memorable. The building was clean and fresh with many lovely plants. The staff greeted us at the curb to collect our bags and front desk staff was quick and efficient. We arrived late morning after breakfast officially closed but provided us a meal. Also on an early morning tour of the city the kitchen staff provided us breakfast to go... Great touch. North Americans may feel the rooms are 'cosy' compared to what we're used to....but they were very comfortable. Would definitely stay here next time we are London...Thanks again to the staff for making it memorable.

"Nice hotel"

First time I had stayed at the hotel and thought it was a nice place to stay. Reception staff were welcoming and polite. My room, a single, was clean, modern and comfortable although both it, and the en-suite bathroom, were both quite small. The tv on the wall was not at the best angle but was not something which spoilt my stay. The corridor to my room was also quite narrow. I agree with other posters that the walls did not seem thick as I could hear the shower, sink and toilet in the next room. However, it did not cause me any significant interruption or inconvenience. I had a full English breakfast. Food was served in a buffet style. Food was hot, well presented and tasty. I felt the breakfast was good value for money.

"Will definitely return!!!"

Lovely place, short walk to Lancaster Gate station. the rooms are clean and very welcoming, just slightly small. Excellent staff, everyone of them welcoming and helpful, Romana was very helpful and patient and professional all the time. will return with pleasure somewhere in October.

"Good central location"

Good walking distance from Paddington station. Polite check-in staff and quick process. The room was on the fourth floor, a decent size and the bathroom was nicely done. The bed was comfortable allowing a good nights sleep, we had a room at the back of the hotel so it was quiet. Plenty of restaurants around to pick from. The only small problem was no window covering on the bathroom window and a glass bathroom door meant we were awake very early when it got light outside.

"Hotel is ok and staff friendly, but not a 4-star."

I stayed here for a couple of nights with my wife and daughter, taking a double and a single room. The hotel is well placed in Paddington, only 5 mins walk from the station, and is on Craven Road, which is relatively quiet. Staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful, and there was no problem with leaving our bags on the day of departure until it was time for our train (late afternoon). The rooms were clean enough, but were really small (often the way with this type of central London hotel, where a large house has been converted into a hotel with the maximum amount of rooms !). Decor was ok and ensuite relatively modern, however the shower enclosure leaked and the push for the toilet flush broke. Air con did work (though not that cold) but was the loudest I've ever heard. We ended up just opening a window - good job London was less than 20DegC at the time ! We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, though it was available - there are plenty of cafes in Paddington to get something in the morning. Hotel does not do lunches or evening meals, and there's no bar. Internet is only available in the lobby area for free, so if you want wireless in your room it's extra. We used our phone data connections instead. For the price we paid, the hotel was decent value - we went through Lastminute and got the 2 rooms for 2 nights for around £400. However as the hotel is advertised as 4-star, the normal room rate is more than we paid, and I don't feel that's worth it.
