"This is THE place in Manhattan!"

5.0/5

Fri 24 May 2013 Berlin, Germany

I can't really count how many times we've been in NYC, but in the last 20 years, at least once or twice a year, each time we have to go to NYC, our one and only place to stay is Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. This is the second review I make of this hotel, which is every time getting better and better. They don't care if you are a HH member or not. You feel special, from arrival to departure. Not only because of the FANTASTIC location, - almost everything you need or want is a few steps far from you, and if it isn't, the staff will provide you, or at least, guide you there. I'm serious! From check-in to check-out you can always count on a friendly staff, really interested in making you feel at home. By the way, efforts to make you feel like home seems to be atrademark of this fine hotel, which I do consider my home in MYC after al these years. Spacious, clean and very functional rooms with EVERYTHING you need for your stay- a very nice fridge, a microwave oven, a coffee machine with complimentary coffee, a safe, ironing, bath tub, you name it. It's there, I promise. No extra fees like some other Hilton hotels I've been (fee for using the safe (??), pricing wireless internet access, charging for ice machines, believe me, some of them are amazingly cheap). NOT THIS ONE! Everything you see is clear and they have nothing to hide, and there are some very kind extras like a complimentary bottle of water, free fresh coffee in the morning at the lobby, free newspaper and a lovely surprise at your room when you check in. I won't spoil the surprise... The best here? PEOPLE! Friendly, cordial, smiley, helpful and extremely professional staff is there at your service, day and night, always with a smile. Since Hilton took over this hotel, I've never, ever had a hard time there. Everything I needed, they were genuinely happy to provide me. Want something? Need something? Easy, difficult, whatever? Talk to Charles, my good old friend Charlie, at the doorbell. He is a great guy, a very, very friendly and always smiling staff member, who's been working there for at least 20 years. There's nothing he doesn't know or can't do. He can and he does. Always with a smile, he'll guide you for whatever you need. I hope there were more people lile him and Domingo, another good old friend of ours. It's a pleasure meeting them every time we arrive. They're always be there for you, trust me. The only sad note we had is Hilton Garden Inn Times Square has not Larry anymore working for them. He left two weeks ago and for six or seven days we've lost the chance to say goodbye to the best concierge we've ever met in the whole world! Not kidding. I'm a long time traveller, and I must say I know the whole world, but NEVER met someone like him! This was a huge loss for H.G.I.T.Sq, and wherever he's working now, I'm sure he's doing his exceptional great job he's always have done. Danielle's not there either, which is a pity, because she's also great. Anyway, if you're looking for THE place to stay in NYC, look no more. This place is the best. Noisy neighborhood? Indeed, it's Times Square, not the Hamptons! Heavy traffic? Yes! Like Chicago, Rome, Berlin or Paris. There's no wonderland in real world, but Hilton Garden Inn Times Square people do a great job in making your stay VERY pleasant one, the best you may have in NYC.

"Visit to NY"

We recently stayed at the Hilton for a week when on holiday. Was the 2nd time I have visited new York from south Africa. This was a far better stay for me. Great hotel. The location is perfect... Times square and Broadway are 2 blocks away. Also the subway is on the corner. Will recommend this hotel to any tourist visiting new York.

"Great Service here"

Spent 5 nights here in room 724.The room was clean and very comfortable with great room service, nothing too much trouble.Bellboy service was polite and unobtrusive with Charles and others very attentive to our needs.View of street life from our room was really fun. hotel is well placed to reach Times Square,Central Park and other major attractions and shops on foot. 9/11 memorial is easily reached from blue line subway across the street.Nearby are many good restaurants and pubs. I would recommend the Olympic diner across the street for a good look at everyday street life in this part of the city, Murphys Saloon nearby and Mickey Spillanes on 9th Avenue are great bars.Overall enjoyed the trip very much and would certainly use this hotel again.

"Fun Hotel"

I'm in NYC 7 to 8 times a year and always stay at the HGI at Times Square - The beds are comfortable - the location is great - and the staff is AWESOME - in fact it's the main reason I return to HGI. Domingo, Jules, Donald, Charles, et al are friendly and extremely helpful as are all the employees. The front desk people are great as are the managers - truly a first class staff! Also - Floyd the security man is great. I recommend and have recommended this hotel to everyone I know who travels to NYC. You won't be disappointed!

"Decent Hotel - Great Hotel - Slim on Amenities"

Tue 21 May 2013 Minneapolis, Minnesota

All in all a great option in NYC. The location is great, walking distance to Times Square, the theaters, Bryant Park, Central Park, etc. The hotel has undergone a recent renovation of the lobby and rooms. I believe most of the renovation has been completed. My room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The street noise was somewhat mitigated - even on the 9th floor - but check the top of the windows...there was a space at the top of both windows that was lettin in noise and damp air. I didn't realize it until day 3 and had to simply push both windows up at the top to shut completely. The amenities were lean..as expected...and limited room service (and no breakfast). Nice that the room had a fridge and a microwave. There is a restaurant attached to the hotel...was marginal. To sum, clean, updated room, friendly staff, and great location. I will stay there again.
