I warned my husband that our last night in Italy, at the Marriott Courtyard, would be sub-standard, based on the reviews I had read, but we were very pleasantly surprised! Renovations are nearly completed; our room was so recently renovated that the flat-screen TV couldn't be turned on. A call to the desk brought the response "It must not be plugged in" and a staff member appeared within minutes to move furniture and plug it in. Wifi was free and worked well in the room. There was a 10 euro "Happy Hour" at the bar that included a generous pour of a pleasant wine and a variety of appetizers on the buffet - it was an adequate evening meal for us. The shuttle worked well for us, after we located it at the airport, asking questions along the way, but I agree that the price is excessive. The breakfast buffet was lavish with really good cappuccino- 12 euros seems standard at most Italian hotels that serve one. We would definitely stay there again!

"Excellent Rome airport hotel"

This hotel is a mere 3 kilometres from the airport with a handy shuttle to and from the airport. It is fresh, clean and comfortable with very helpful staff. There are a range of cafes and restaurants in the vicinity and a restaurant and bar menus within the hotel. We slept well with the curtains closed and were not disturbed by the planes.

We recently stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Rome Airport on our last night after spending several days in Italy. At that point we had a good feel for what hotels were like in Rome, and Italy in general. We've also stayed at Marriotts many times in the USA and Canada so we know what to expect. First of all it is very close to the Fiumicino Airport (Rome). I timed the shuttle drive from the airport to the hotel so I would know how long to expect the ride to the airport to be in the morning we were departing. 4 minutes from the airport (it is very close). That is a great plus. There is a downside to the shuttle however. You are charged €6 per person, per ride. Two people going to the hotel and back to the airport and you're up to €24 for a 4 minute ride...? I think if you have more than a couple of people you are better off with a taxi splitting the fare. On top of this you are expected to tip regardless of whether you have assistance with your bags or not. We had backpacks that we carried ourselves and the driver still held out his hand like a street beggar when we reached the hotel..umm, no. Second, if you don't know where to go to pick up the shuttle, do not bother calling the hotel. All they will tell you is that the shuttle "is at the end of Terminal 3". No, it is not at the end of Terminal 3. Terminal 3 is on the second level of the airport. The shuttle stops on the ground level where all the taxis and buses are. In fact it is very far from Terminal 3. It is actually in parking location 19. Turn right as you exit on the ground level and start walking. You won't reach the shuttle area for quite a while so just keep walking. The parking locations decrease in number as you head that way so just keep walking. You will eventually find it. Both times we rode it the shuttle was not a hotel branded shuttle, just some generic unmarked van while the "hotel" shuttle sat, apparently broken down, in front of the hotel. Arriving and checking in was easy though the amount charged for the shuttle is not explained beforehand and a major disappointment. The fee appears to be typical for the hotel. Shuttle? - Fee. WiFi in your room? - Fee. Leisure room? - Fee. While you may think you are getting a "deal" staying at this hotel rather than the Hilton (which is even closer and does not charge for the shuttle), you are not as all the little extras add up. Sorry Rome Marriott mgmt. this is not okay. The room was very nice, clean. Of course it is next to the airport so don't expect much sleep before midnight. The adhesive based "this commode was cleaned" sticker holding the commode lid shut is not something I want to fight with when I get to my room. Just clean the thing and leave it like that. I don't know if I can address the hotel's restaurant in this same review but since you are not likely to eat here if you are not a hotel guest, I will. We ate fantastic food every single day we were in Italy, at every meal - until we ate at the Courtyard Marriott Rome Airport's restaurant. You are given a choice a "buffet" for €10 per person (6-8pm) which includes a glass of wine or a beer, and their "buffet". The buffet area is the bar, so naturally there is not much seating and you cannot eat in the restaurant proper if you choose the buffet. The buffet looked like some finger foods I could not identify (pimento sandwiches?..?). We skipped it and ate in the restaurant. My wife ordered spaghetti bolognese and I ordered pasta with seafood. We didn't see ground beef all week while in Italy, until we got the bolognese...at least it looked like ground beef. Whatever it was it made my wife very sick that night and into the next morning. I won't say anything else about that. Clue to the restaurant chef: when you have mussels with pasta - don't put them at the bottom of the bowl with the noodles over top of them. Yeah this is not a good idea since you can't exactly find them. I did find several broken "parts" of mussel shells in my mouth, cutting the roof of my mouth in one instance. I gave up after 1/4 through the meal and could not finish. Gordon Ramsey would have a field day at this restaurant. Even the waitress had no clue, when she asked "Eveyting OK?" I said "No, not really". She promptly said "Ok" and walked off. Do not eat at this restaurant. By the way, it amusing to note that the restaurant charges €7 for a 12 ounce beer, and one floor up from the check in desk there is a vending machine that sells the exact_same_beer for €3. Can we say rip-off in Italian? Yes I guess there is a delivery fee of €4 for that beer to go from the kitchen fridge to your table. But, like I said earlier, that is typical for this place. Check-out the next morning was nothing terrible, it was ok. Forget about your "reservation" (€6) for the shuttle. They do not go by this, they go by who is in the front of the line, so watch for the shuttle and get on it while you can, and make sure you leave really early: the Rome airport is not a place you breeze through. Unlike every other hotel we stayed at in Italy, there is no continental breakfast (yes, a roll with your coffee will be another fee...). There is free coffee that was ok, nothing spectacular. We did not even consider trying the restaurant again. Overall our experience was ok, but the extra fees and the restaurant made this place a real disappointment at the end of our trip. I think we will try the Hilton next time.

"Nice hotel"

I enjoyed te Hotel. It was close to the airport which is a plus. The restaurant had great food and wine and have no cplaints there. The only negative issue I have is the high charge of Transport to the city centre. 14 euros is quite excessive when it is one way. The Holiday Inn down the road charges 4 Euros.

"Good Airport Hotel"

One of the major problems of Tripadvisor is that contributors don't seem to grasp the difference between subject and objective views - some have genuinely poor experiences and some may actually contribute to those experiences. And with that in mind I am spending the night at the Rome Airport Courtyard Marriott. It is a hotel that delivers pretty much what you would expect for its purpose and cost. Rooms are comfortable and yes there is a bit of aircraft noise (it's Italy so deal with it). The shuttle was efficient, check-in friendly and competent, and after taking in the pleasures of Fiumicino (this doesn't take too long - it's just a working town) I headed back for a simple dinner. Good hospitality started with a cold beer in the bar served by a nice bloke, segued into the dining room for excellent saltimbocca, friendly staff, and good wine served by people who obviously like what they do. It's an airport hotel - it ain't the Ritz but doesn't try to be - after a long days travel I was comfortable and welcomed - and in city where tourists can be plundered - it was a good deal.
