Hotels in Santa Ponsa

Santa Ponsa Hotels

Santa Ponsa is a flourishing holiday resort overlooking the impeccably clear turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. On the scenic southwest coast of Majorca, this community was once dominated by a grand Roman villa, and is especially popular with families, couples and groups of friends from northern European countries.

The resort is also a world-class golfing destination and features two large 18-hole golf courses, one of which is only accessible to members. Santa Ponsa also has a fantastic sheltered sandy cove that is ideal for sunbathing and swimming, and is the perfect place to observe those spectacular Mediterranean sunsets thanks to its uninterrupted sea views towards the west.

Places of interest in Majorca

See the formidable Cuevas del Drach, a series of dramatic caves that are more than a kilometre long and overlook one of the largest underground lakes in the world. If you're a lover of historic architecture, you must visit Palma Cathedral (La Seu), a magnificent Gothic Roman landmark that is 44m tall and was built on a former mosque, although it took almost four centuries to build this structure.

Another intriguing landmark near the outskirts of Palma is Bellver Castle, which contains an unusual circular shape and was designed more than 700 years ago. The building, a Spanish Property of Cultural Interest, is now the location of the Palma History Museum, and was, for centuries, a military prison.

Best beaches

For somewhere secluded, consider heading to the Cala Varques beach, which can be accessed on foot or by boat, and comprises pristine white sands next to exceptionally clean emerald waters. The Cala Comtesse beach, meanwhile, is ideal for snorkelling and highly suited to families, while the Cala Tuent beach is the place to be if you're looking for somewhere completely unspoilt and far reserved from the busy atmosphere of Majorca's bustling resorts.
