Bath hotels to get you in a lather
From the rooftop pool of Bath's swish new Thermae Spa you can see over the whole historic city: church spires, sandy-coloured Georgian terraces and out to the green hills beyond.
This state-of-the-art spa is a fitting temple to the naturally heated spring waters that made the city famous. It's a modern spin on the centuries-old tradition of this spa town: the Celts came here to bathe as early as 1BC and the Romans, as we all know, were keen skinny-dippers too. You can still see the ruins of their ancient yet rather fabulous baths complex in the city centre.
Hotels in Bath range from Regency townhouses straight out of Jane Austen to country house hotels, erm, straight out of Jane Austen. And, this being student territory, there are plenty of cosy boozers as well.
Which means you can get soaked, scrubbed and then pleasantly lathered.
