Playa de los Pocillos is a purpose built resort town, on the Spanish island of Lanzarote. This is one of the larger and more beautiful amongst the Canary Islands, with terrain that varies from fantastic beaches to dramatic volcanoes. Playa de los Pocillos lies close to the popular tourist destination of Puerto del Carmen on the island’s southeast coast.
A great way to start your holiday in Playa de los Pocillos, is to head down to the ‘Avenida de las Playas’. This wide promenade is kept free from traffic, and lies right in the centre of Playa de los Pocillos. You’ll find the promenade lined with seafood restaurants, tapas bars, cafés and markets – it’s a great place to grab a souvenir, or to try out some of the local cuisine! Playa de los Pocillos also boasts a good selection of nightclubs, with plenty of options for an evening out on the town.
At one end of the avenue you’ll find the beach, a fantastic expanse of golden sand gently washed by the warm, blue waters of the Atlantic. This is one of the main draws for many people on holiday to Playa de los Pocillos. You’ll find some great spots for sunbathing, as well as a good selection of water sports. Try your hand at exciting activities such as jet skiing and windsurfing, or even take a trip deep beneath the waters; in Playa de los Pocillos you’ll find a number of diving schools, which offer lessons from beginner level through to advanced, as well as a number of guided tours.
Alternatively, head inland – Lanzarote is famous for its unspoiled, rugged landscape. From idyllic beaches to imposing mountains and volcanoes, the island offers a vast range of terrains. It’s no surprise then, that this is a destination popular with cyclists, hikers, mountain climbers and bird watchers!
Unlike older towns on Lanzarote such as Arrecife, Playa de los Pocillos is a modern resort town, built with just one thing in mind – fun. It’s a great place to come with the whole family, and you’ll be able to enjoy an exciting range of resort activities. There are plenty of options for a cheap day out… from unwinding on the beach, to taking a camel ride up the side of a volcano!
