Discover ancient cultures and endless islands whilst on holiday in Cambodia
Holidays in Cambodia provide you with plenty of exciting sites to explore. Whether you want to spend your holidays relaxing on the beach, exploring ancient cultures or checking out unique wildlife Cambodia has something for you.
No holiday in Cambodia would be complete without a visit the Angkor Archaeological Park in the north of the country. This 400 square kilometre world heritage site hosts the remains of various temples and capitol buildings from the ancient Khmer Empire. It is recommended that you spend a couple of days at this site as it is so big. If you only have one day you can book a car tour to make sure that you get a glimpse of all of the various temples and buildings on the site.
After a few days exploring this world wonder make your way to some of Cambodia's famous beaches near the Sihanoukville peninsula. Just off the peninsula are a series of islands that are all connected with a very cheap water taxi service. Spend your holiday in Cambodia exploring what each island has to offer, from white sand beaches to the best diving water in Cambodia.
Fun in Cambodia’s capital city
If spending your days on the beach has got you ready to hit the city streets, head to Cambodia's capital city, Phnom Penh. Here you can spend your days enjoying the city’s grand boulevards and the many restaurants that are scattered throughout the capital. Make sure to stop in at the National Museum where you will get a better idea of the diverse history of Cambodia.
Just outside of the capital city, you can enjoy hiking in the enormous mangrove forest, which is part of the Peam Krasaop Wildlife Sanctuary. Here you will see many different animals that are local to area. Just a bit further from this wildlife reserve, in a town called Kratie, you can try to spot the famous Irrawaddy dolphin which has become endangered, but is still found in its natural habitat near this town.
