Monarch Ceases Operations - October 2, 2017 (Updated 12/10/17)

Monarch airlines has ceased operations on October 2, 2017 and all flights have been cancelled. Please do not travel to the airport if you have a flight booked with the airline, except customers who are already overseas and due to return to UK before the 15th of October 2017. We are currently experiencing high call volumes in our call centres, related to this event, which is causing long wait times. Please read below guidelines and procedures for your reservation as you may find the answers you need here and might not need to call us. If you are not due to travel within the next 72 hours we recommend you wait a few days to contact us.

Customers currently abroad

If you are currently abroad and due to return to the UK on or before 15 October 2017, we can confirm that arrangements are being made for you to return home to the UK on a new flight, at the end of your holiday. These new flights will be at no extra cost to you. More information on the alternative flight arrangements being made by the Civil Aviation Authority can be found on their website. If you are currently abroad and due to return to the UK after this date, you will not be reprotected (unless you have booked a package holiday with us) and we have already requested a refund of your ticket (this will take at least 60 days). If your flight is not returning to the UK, you will not be reprotected (unless you have booked a package holiday with us) and we have already requested a refund of your ticket (this will take at least 60 days).

Package and Flight Plus customers

If you have booked a Package or Flight Plus (UK only) with us and are yet to travel, we are currently working to find the best solution for all our customers affected. Where possible this will be an alternative at no extra cost or otherwise a full refund. We will be in touch with all passengers, prioritising those with the most urgent departures.

Flight Only Customers with a standalone Monarch flight

If you have booked a standalone flight with Monarch and are yet to travel, we have already requested a refund of your ticket and all affected customers will be informed by email once this has been processed. We ask for your patience. It will take at least 60 days. Alternatively, if you have obtained travel insurance covering this type of event you may wish to initiate a claim with your travel insurance provider. Please note you will have to make alternative travel arrangements, as your Monarch ticket is no longer valid and can not be used on any other airline.

Flight Only Customers not yet departed returning with Monarch

If you have booked a outbound flight with another airline (British Airways for example) and a return with Monarch on or before the 15th of October, you will be protected and arrangements are being made for you to return home to the UK on a new flight, at the end of your holiday (please refer to the Civil Aviation Authority website for further support). This new flight will be at no extra cost to you. Should you be returning after the 15th of October you will not be reprotected and we have already requested a refund of your ticket with Monarch (this will take at least 60 days). Please note you will have to make alternative travel arrangements to return to UK after 15th of October, as your Monarch ticket is no longer valid and can not be used on any other airline.

Flight Only Customers not yet departed returning with another airline

If you have booked an outbound flight with Monarch and an inbound flight with another airline (British Airways for example), we have already requested a refund of your ticket with Monarch (this will take at least 60 days). Please note you will have to make alternative travel arrangements for the outbound flight, as your Monarch ticket is no longer valid and can not be used on any other airline. Should you still wish to use the inbound flight you can do so, otherwise if you wish to cancel please contact us and any refund will be requested, subject to the terms and conditions of the other airline.
