Air Malta was established in 1973 in Malta. Its first flights took off in April 1974 with scheduled services to Italy, Libya, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. In 2012, the airline adopted a fresh new look for its fleet, and a brand new logo. Today, the airline has a fleet of 12 Airbus aircraft, which includes 5 Airbus A319's and 7 Airbus A320's. Air Malta flights travel to more than 35 major cities across Europe and the Mediterranean. In addition, connections between destinations in the Middle East and North America are available. Onboard Air Malta aircraft are Extra Leg Room Seats, Premium Seats, and Basic Seats. All passengers may enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages. For an additional fee, it's possible to easily arrange excess baggage if required. Passengers are also entitled to take one item of hand luggage into the cabin. This should weigh up to 10kg for Economy class passengers, and up to 15kg for Club Malta class passengers. The maximum dimensions are 20 x 40 x 55cm. Children are entitled to the same luggage allowance as adults. In general, pets may travel either in the cabin or in the hold (depending on size) on Air Malta flights; however, this policy excludes travel into the UK.
