Looking for a great night out on the town? Why not pick up some of Theatreland's hottest tickets for less and see The Book of Mormon with us. The show was an instant sensation when it arrived on the West End stage in 2013, having already played to sold-out houses and cleaned up at the major theatrical award ceremonies during the first year of its Broadway run, feats which it has since repeated in London, where it is playing at the Prince of Wales Theatre just by Leicester Square.
Created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the men behind the anarchic South Park, and Robert Lopez, one of the composers of the hit show Avenue Q and an Oscar-winner for writing Frozen’s instant classic Let It Go, The Book of Mormon lyrics skilfully combine controversial humour with traditional musical theatre style.
Telling the story of two young and naïve Mormon missionaries as they are sent out from Salt Lake City to find converts in Uganda, The Book of Mormon UK tour is a sharp, savage and satirical show, with an intelligent message, not to mention great songs and performances, and a fair amount of filthy humour.
Listen closely and you’ll hear references to shows like The Lion King, West Side Story and Wicked, as well as a surprising amount of affection for the show’s subject matter.
The Book of Mormon London cast features KJ Hippensteel as Elder Price, Cody Jamison Strand as Elder Cunningham, Alexandra Ncube as Nabulungi, and Steven Webb as Elder McKinley, amongst other talented artists. Prior to The Book Of Mormon, KJ Hippensteel has appeared in numerous Broadway shows (including the US version of this musical).
