Looking for a great night out on the town? Why not pick up some of Theatreland's hottest tickets for less and see The Book of Mormon with us. The show was an instant sensation when it arrived on the West End stage in 2013, having already played to sold-out houses and cleaned up at the major theatrical award ceremonies during the first year of its Broadway run, feats which it has since repeated in London, where it is playing at the Prince of Wales Theatre just by Leicester Square.
Created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the men behind the anarchic South Park, and Robert Lopez, one of the composers of the hit show Avenue Q and an Oscar-winner for writing Frozen’s instant classic Let It Go, The Book of Mormon lyrics skilfully combine controversial humour with traditional musical theatre style. Listen closely and you’ll hear references to shows like The Lion King, West Side Story and Wicked), as well as a surprising amount of affection for the show’s subject matter.
Telling the story of two young and naïve Mormon missionaries as they are sent out from Salt Lake City to find converts in Uganda, The Book of Mormon UK tour is a sharp, savage and satirical show, with an intelligent message, not to mention great songs and performances, and a fair amount of filthy humour.
The Book of Mormon London cast features KJ Hippensteel as Elder Price, Cody Jamison Strand as Elder Cunningham, Alexandra Ncube as Nabulungi, and Steven Webb as Elder McKinley, amongst other talented artists. The Book of Mormon running time is approximately 2 hours 30 minutes including a 15 minute interval.
The Book of Mormon has won nine Tony Awards, a Grammy and four Olivier Awards, as well as almost universally glowing reviews, from critics, audiences and even members of the lastminute.com team. Mark, one of our copywriters, is a big fan, and had this to say about the show; "I laughed ‘til I cried, and came out humming many of the show's songs; they're all so good that it was impossible to pick a favourite". In fact, the soundtrack album is now one of his go-to listens on the morning commute into the office, and he's planning to see the show again. With our cheap The Book of Mormon tickets you might soon be thinking of doing the same.
