One Heck of a Summer: Globe Trotter Fine Dining in London

Our globe trotter Richard popped into London for a brief visit and brought his family along for a fine dining experience at Kettners restaurant and champagne bar in Soho.

Here is his story.

Over the past few weeks I have dined in style at the best restaurants in Dubai and Las Vegas. Yet Kettner’s, a stylish champagne bar and restaurant on Romilly Street, Soho was something quite else….

Kettner’s first opened way back in 1867 by Auguste Kettner, a former chef to Napoleon III. It is one of the oldest restaurants in London’s Theatreland and has a secret passageway running to the Palace Theatre.

Former diners have included Oscar Wilde, Agatha Christie and Bing Crosby.

Today it was to be frequented by the large Conway party!

Kettner’s allows patrons to individually hire dining rooms and we were lucky enough to be situated in the Salon. This afforded us maximum privacy but a more relaxed atmosphere to enjoy each other’s company.
