Mostly Jazz Looks Completely Great
This year, the team behind the Moseley Folk Festival, Birmingham's family-friendly, late-summer weekender, have turned up a few months early with a new festival - Mostly Jazz. As well as riding the wave of folk music's increasing popularity, Moseley Folk has made itself accessible to a wider audience thanks to a wide interpretation of what that genre includes - from the light acoustic strummings of Jose Gonzalez to the decidedly unfolky Morcheeba and Saint Etienne. Mostly Jazz, as you can tell by the name, takes a similar approach, with the line-up travelling all along the spectrum of everything that could be considered 'jazz'. That line-up includes Sun Ra Arkestra, Courtney Pine, Portico Quartet, Lizzy Parks, Quantic, James Taylor Quartet and Polar Bear. It'll be held in the gorgeous surroundings of the private Moseley Park, a stunning 11-acre woodland glade in the heart of Moseley Village that certainly doesn't feel like it's only 2 miles from the centre of Birmingham. Mostly Jazz takes place the weekend of 3 and 4 July and tickets should still (just about) be available.
