lastminute.com is recruiting businesses throughout the Manchester region as part of the brand’s expansion plans in the city. The online travel and leisure retailer is keen to expand its offering of hotels, restaurants, spas, and other leisure business in the city, as part of a wider drive to break out of its South East heartland.
lastminute.com already has a significant presence in the city, with hotels such as the Radisson Edwardian and The Palace Hotel offering bookings through the site. We attracted 170,000 visitors to the UK in 2009.
Representatives from lastminute.com spent the day in Manchester yesterday meeting local businesses and hosting workshops to promote the benefits of working with the site. At the event lastminute.com CEO Ian McCaig, said ‘We’ve focused on getting the business model right in London, but now we want to be more local across the UK, particularly in Manchester. We receive 1.65 million visitors to our site every week, and we want to convey what a great business opportunity this is for the leisure and tourism industry in Manchester.’
‘I cannot emphasise how excited we are about getting businesses in Manchester on board with us’ said Mark Fells, Marketing Director, lastminute.com. ‘This year we want to let local businesses know of our plans and the benefits that being a part of the site can bring. Last year, 40,000 passengers departed from Manchester airport.’
