Shopping is one of our favourite national pastimes and is adored by millions. But what if you fancy a change from your usual shopping haunts? Take a trip to Leeds, dubbed the Knightsbridge of the north, as it might just be the place you’ve been looking for.
We chose our favourite shopping locations in Leeds to give you a helping hand on your next visit:
The Corn Exchange
If you’re sick of the retail giants and want to find some independent stores to pick up something a little different, then the wonderful Grade I Listed Corn Exchange is ideal.
Sitting proudly in the city centre, close to some of the best and newest Leeds restaurants, it’s also a centre for shows and music events – as well as hosting exhibitions. While you’re there try Red’s True Barbecue, but be warned it gets busy.
Best Hotel: 42 The Calls
Sitting proudly on the Headrow, this is a shopping ‘mega’ street all of its own. The Light is a £100 million development and its modern design encapsulates all that shopping, eating and drinking has to offer.
Everything is housed under one roof including a 13 screen cinema – ideal for taking the weight off your feet after a tiring day at the checkouts.
Best Hotel: Radisson Blu Leeds
Harvey Nichols sits firmly, almost like a shining beacon, amongst other shops such as Ted Baker, Vivienne Westwood and Reiss.
This is the place if you are feeling particularly flush, but make sure you stop and take in its breathtaking Victorian architecture before deciding which shop to enjoy next.
Best Hotel: DoubleTree by Hilton Leeds City Centre
White Rose Shopping Centre
Situated just out of town to the South Side of Leeds, this is the ideal venue for those of us who love everything under one roof.
With over 100 shops, covering the best of high street fashion names to more specialized stores, you’ll find everything you are looking for. Come, relax, shop, eat and enjoy!
