Ibiza: Best Beaches and Offbeat Restaurants

Now’s the time to enjoy Spring in the laid back Balearics ahead of the opening parties of the Ibiza clubs in June. The white isle moves to a different rhythm during April. It’s abundant with blossom and flowers and the place begins to warm up ahead of the arid Summer.  I love visiting all year round and here are my favourite off season places.

Cala Vadella is a very beautiful cove which is surrounded by boat huts. There are a couple of restaurants on the beach which mean you can hang out and watch the sunset – one of the favourite past times of the islanders.

In search of serenity and calm? Head to Benirras for a spot of Yoga and clean living – plus the most spectacular sunsets. I took loads of great photos which I’m really proud of – it’s a great place to have breakfast and an early morning walk along the beach too. The ocean rock is more than a little reminiscent of a Buddha which lends an added air of mysticism.

Eat Out
La Paloma is one of my favourite restaurants in off season Ibiza – the squid risotto is divine and there is a great selection of wines at reasonable prices.

Bambuddha Grove

If you love Thai food and a great atmosphere, Bambuddha is an absolute must. Off season the restaurant is not fully open but that doesn’t mean to say you won’t enjoy the hospitality and cocktail bar. This place is heaving in the Summer and you’ll spot more than a famous face or two indulging in the hedonistic mix of great food and music.  The decor is amazing and so are the gardens with fine Thailand craftsmanship and modernist interiors in abundance and lots of quirky details such as the twoilets – one cubicle and two toilets so you can keep chatting without stopping!

Chill Out
For great music you can tune into Ibiza Sonica on the radio or online. Don’t be surprised if you hear a few English DJs, many of them weather the island all year round.
